WATERMED (Bacteriostatic Water for Injection) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic preparation of water for injection containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) benzyl alcohol added as a bacteriostatic preservative. The drug is supplied in a multi-dose container from which repeated extractions can be made to dilute or dissolve injectable drugs

WATERMED (Bacteriostatic Water for Injections) is a sterile solution designed exclusively for use with drugs that require dilution or must be dissolved in an aqueous vehicle prior to injection. This compound is indicated only to dilute or dissolve drugs for intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the drug to be administered.

Bacteriostatic Water for Injection Side Effects

Like any medicine, WATERMED (Bacteriostatic Water for Injection) can cause side effects. Although many people do not experience them or have some minor side effects, there is still a risk of them occurring. Bacteriostatic Water is not recommended for use in infants under 4 weeks of age. Some medical conditions may interact with WATERMED (Bacteriostatic Water for Injections). Although there are no known specific interactions with Bacteriostatic Water, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, such as

- if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breast-feeding;

- if you are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicine;

- if you are taking any herbal preparation or dietary supplement;

- if you are going to undergo a surgical procedure; or

- if you are allergic to any medication, food or other substance.

Also, before using WATERMED (Bacteriostatic Water for Injections), it is necessary to inform your doctor about your current list of medications and vitamins, herbal supplements you are taking.

That is necessary to do, as some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side effects of the drug. It is important to take WATERMED (Bacteriostatic Water for Injections) exactly as directed by your doctor. Dosage is individual in each case and is based on your condition. Inform your doctor immediately if your condition persists or worsens. Special attention should be paid in case of:

risk of hemolysis;

patients with impaired renal function

premature infants;

How to store Bacteriostatic Water for Injection

Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Do not flush the medicine down the toilet or pour it down the drain, as it may contaminate the environment..
